Oia’s animatronic bears move to New York to bring Christmas cheer
The three-metre-tall bears […] have already visited more than twenty countries.
Three of La Fiesta Escénica’s animatronic polar bears travelled to Manhattan to take part in the Christmas show presented at Lincoln Center by New York’s Big Apple Circus and Roncalli. The other three bears were leaving for Bremen (Germany) with Galtük.
‘The bears are our most well-travelled animatronics,’ Abel Martín tells La Voz de Galicia. Three metres tall, they have visited more than twenty countries. They are brought to life from inside by three of the company’s actors, from Vigo and Vedra, who were crossing the Atlantic for the first time.
The report also captures the company’s philosophy: ‘We made animatronics of animals that really were always part of the circus, to preserve its essence.’
