La Fiesta Escénica prepares its new show for a Paris circus in Oia
Oceanía, a monumental show heading straight to Paris.
After the pandemic hiatus, La Fiesta Escénica was putting the finishing touches in Oia to Oceanía, a show bought by the French circus Medrano that was due to premiere in Paris on 4 February 2022. ‘It’s the first big circus after the pandemic and the third aquatic one we’ve created,’ Abel Martín told La Voz de Galicia.
The set centres on a Spanish galleon ten metres long, with bridges, waterfalls and rain on stage. The pool was being built in Paris; the rest of the production, costumes included, came out of the Oia workshops. According to the newspaper, Medrano would keep it touring France for three years.
The report also looks back at how the company lived through the pandemic, which caught it on tour in Mexico, and its return to the stage with Circo de Navidad in Galicia.
