Meet the first robotic elephants created for the circus by a company from Pontevedra
A herd of elephants that leaves no one indifferent.
Antena 3 Noticias visited La Fiesta Escénica’s premises in Oia (Pontevedra) to meet its herd of robotic elephants: life-size sculptures that move their ears, eyes and trunks — which even spray water.
‘We don’t want these sculptures to do anything a real elephant wouldn’t do,’ explains Abel Martín. To achieve that realism, the team travelled to India to observe elephants and work with sculptors and specialists. They are all females, as in a real herd, and stand 3.60 metres tall.
The piece also covers the elephants’ arrival in Oia and their next destinations: France and, shortly afterwards, Germany.
